Job Description

CoBank's Rotational Junior Security Analyst performs security functions in a rotational capacity through various security groups at CoBank in order to gain a broad understanding of the Bank's security role and capabilities. Rotational assignments provide on-the-job security experience. Each rotation offers the opportunity to train with and support the various CoBank security functions. The Analyst assists team members in maintaining existing security infrastructure, evaluating emerging technologies and assists with the implementation of new systems, processes, and procedures to maintain the security of personnel and information assets. The Analyst monitors and investigates system events to ensure appropriate procedures are followed, and to identify suspicious activity to escalate for further analysis and response. Participates in application development activities to identify security risks and potential mitigation strategies.

Essential Functions

1. Responsible for the daily management and oversight of security systems including: anti-malware, data-loss prevention, log management, web application firewall, and physical access systems.
2. Monitors, evaluates, and responds to alerts or notifications from various security systems.
3. Works with application development and enterprise architecture groups to identify and mitigate unacceptable technical security risks. Documents and tracks remediation of application security vulnerabilities and findings
4. Performs research, evaluates options and makes recommendations on emerging security technologies.
5. Assists with infrastructure and application-level security testing.
6. Gathers and compiles security key performance indicators (KPIs).
7. Evaluates and investigates compliance with Enterprise Security policies and procedures.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Work Experience

2 years of experience in information technology, required
1 year of experience focused on information security principles, preferred
1. Experience with scripting languages, software development, and Web development practices and languages.
2. Experience with logging, monitoring, and log analysis tools.
3. Understanding of common security frameworks and implementing best practices, such as NIST, ISO, and MITRE ATT&CK.
4. Excellent analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.
5. Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of management, team members and customers.
6. Strong organizational and time management skills and detail orientation, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task under tight time frames and competing priorities
7. Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

About CoBank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $59,468 - $75,034. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
