Job Description

A key enabler of our Flywheel strategy is our ability to have the right talent in the right roles, at the right time. This highly visible position will be responsible for creating a vision of our compensation strategy, implementation, administration, communication, compliance and providing thought leadership. They will be responsible for leveraging their expertise to assess the effectiveness and competitiveness of our compensation programs to attract and retain talent in our competitive marketplace. They will partner with business leaders, and VP of People and Capabilities to enable use to acquire, develop and retain a high-quality diverse workforce, to meet the rapid business growth needsLead a team responsible for ensuring that our compensation practices align with the company's mission, market competitiveness, and regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions

Compensation and Human Resources Committee:

  • Develop and lead the strategy and execution of the executive compensation planning processes and the Compensation and Human Resources Committee (CHRC) agenda. This is completed in partnership with the CHRO, CHRC, and compensation consultant to CHRC.
  • Lead the delivery of CHRC activities and development of board reporting materials as well as salary, short and long-term plan designs and actions.
  • Develop total target compensation through compensation surveys and other market data and collaborates on new hire and exits compensation packages.

Partner with the Business:

  • Consult with business leaders and HR Business Partners to continuously strengthen the efficiency, effectiveness and competitiveness of all compensation solutions and services.
  • Collaborate with finance and other leaders to analyze key program metrics to understand implications of compensation programs on CoBank’s performance and financials.
  • Lead the annual and long-term budgeting on compensation items in collaboration with other HR leaders and deliver that to Finance.

Compensation:

  • Collaborate and partner with leadership to understand their challenges related to compensation programs and key issues in attracting, motivating and retaining high quality, diverse talent.
  • Provide leadership and support to the businesses on end-to-end compensation strategies and elevate these strategies to support CoBank’s Employee Value Proposition and its ability to attract and retain high quality and diverse talent.
  • Supports the strategy, planning, design and implementation of compensation programs to support the organization’s objectives and competitive position in the marketplace. This is inclusive of job architecture, salary structures, annual compensation planning, short term bonus plan development and administration, and long-term incentive plan design and administration.
  • Ensure compliance with employment-related statutory and/or regulatory requirements regarding all pay programs.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and develops a high performing, solution-oriented, empowered team that effectively designs, implements, partners and supports delivery of solutions and programs.
  • Drives engagement of the team while creating solid partnerships up, down and across the human resources team and the business.

Education

  • Master's Degree in related field, preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. required

Work Experience

  • 15 years of experience in development, implementation, and administration of compensation and benefits strategies in support of business objectives, required
  • Prior Experience working directly with the CHRO and Board (Compensation Committee) on executive strategies and programs, required
  • Extensive knowledge of compensation techniques, theories, programs and plans including executive compensation, cash compensation, merit programs, and incentive/variable compensation, etc.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) and/or Global Renumeration Professional designation
  • Ability to build credibility with the C-suite and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and build strategically while maintaining willingness and ability to execute in a hands-on way.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner, influence and coach business leaders, HR leaders and other key stakeholders.
  • A proactive leader in touch with industry trends who possesses broad expertise in concepts, practices and procedures in Compensation.
  • High energy and natural results-orientation. Ability to work in a collaborative and team-oriented culture.
  • Strong quantitative skills and the ability to define and solve problems quickly, while maintaining the focus on the bigger picture. High degree of comfort providing accurate financial analysis including economic analysis, cost/benefit analysis, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to package and present complex analysis and recommendations clearly and comfortably. Ability to communicate compensation, plans and policies accurately and simply.
  • Proven ability to develop teams to meet growing needs of the organization.

About CoBank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $186,409 - $259,201. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
