Job Description

Serves as a lead on CoBank's customer derivative strategy by building and maintaining strong relationships with business lines, customers, Farm Credit partners, and key internal stakeholders. Performs in-depth analysis in partnership with business line representatives to strengthen customer relationships, identify business opportunities and maximize alignment of customer hedging strategies with customer priorities. Ensures customer derivative transactions are executed and documented in compliance with established policies and procedures. Seeks out and capitalizes on new business opportunities. Embraces and actively contributes to a culture of continual improvement.

Essential Functions

  • Structure, price, and execute a variety of interest rate derivative products for CoBank and Farm Credit System customers.
  • Cover a wide variety of customers, ranging from middle market, corporate, financial sponsors, and infrastructure.
  • Engage directly with CEOs, CFOs, management teams, and boards to discuss hedging strategies based on their unique business needs and capital structure.
  • Develop and maintain a significant presence with the banking team, to identify and capitalize on new business opportunities and to deepen existing relationships.
  • Work with internal teams - relationship managers, back-office operations, Legal, Credit, Risk, and others - to effectively manage the full trade lifecycle, from initial inception, through closing and trade execution, and beyond.
  • Understand and operate within all internal and regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Provide regular market commentary for external customers and internal business partners.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to less experienced members of the team.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance or relevant discipline required

Work Experience

  • 7 years of experience in marketing interest rate derivative products within a commercial or investment bank required or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Must possess a deep understanding of financial markets, macroeconomics, fixed income products, interest rate curve construction, derivative valuation, and various pricing methodologies and hedging strategies.
  • Must be familiar with XVAs and the implications when pricing transactions.
  • Must be technical in nature, but able to articulate complex subjects in a manner that is easy to comprehend.
  • Must be familiar with ISDA documentation, credit underwriting, and all regulatory guidelines.
  • Must be comfortable researching and analyzing a client's current financial state and proposing and explaining appropriate derivative structures to fit the clients' specific needs and goals.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and fluid environment.
  • Work independently on special projects as assigned.
  • Must be highly ethical, positive, and intellectually curious, with strong oral and written communication skills. The ability to remain calm and operate effectively under pressure, and a high degree of organization and attention to detail are imperative.
  • Some experience in commodity derivatives marketing viewed favorably.
  • Availability for occasional work outside normal business hours.

Travel Requirement Details

Regular Travel occurs on a consistent basis (typically, once a week or every other week).

The typical base pay range for this role is between $174,500 - $214,660. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
