Position is located in either Denver, CO or Atlanta, GA. Relocation package can be provided. 

Job Description

Manages overall client relationships with key Financial Sponsors, Infrastructure Funds, individual companies and lead banks focused on the Digital Infrastructure sector. Responsible for leading market development, prospecting, account management, and credit underwriting primarily to larger corporations, financial sponsors and their portfolio companies. Collaborates with the team to develop, market, and underwrite comprehensive financial solutions for customers involving all of the CoBank products. Manages directly and indirectly the overall profitability and credit quality of a large and complex loan portfolio. Approves or recommends credit decisions as appropriate. Implements marketing and account servicing plans. Provides value-added advisory and credit structuring consultation to customers, junior relationship managers, and credit underwriting. Maintains effective relationships with governmental, industry, and financial groups to enhance financial performance and business effectiveness. Supports CoBank's engagement of and collaboration with the Farm Credit System.

Essential Functions

  • Manages existing client relationships and develops new business to grow the Digital Infrastructure portfolio. Meets regularly with customers to establish meaningful relationships while gathering key information on their businesses, needs, strategic direction, and earnings to optimize all potential opportunities.
  • Calls on financial sponsors and maintains an active dialogue with key sponsors to ensure that all potential opportunities are explored.
  • Pitches clients various financing proposals and serves as primary negotiator on complex credits. Negotiates multi-lender credit facilities and inter-creditor agreements. Negotiates and documents terms and conditions. These transactions vary widely from large corporate loans to financial sponsors M&A deals to loan-to-cost / quasi project finance structures.
  • A thought leader who works with the Capital Markets team in structuring and leading large corporate and complex underwritten transactions (including bridge loan facilities). Manages the successful syndication of CoBank and Farm Credit System transactions and larger more broadly syndicated deals. Analyzes and obtains approval for the portfolio, including advising on structure, pricing and documentation.
  • Understands market terms and pricing across the credit spectrum and recommends changes on assigned portfolio to adjust to market.
  • Assists in developing and implementing marketing and business development strategies which emphasize leadership and agency roles for CoBank and the Farm Credit System, new business, fee income, and the cross-selling of the bank’s suite of financial products and services.
  • Participates in establishing overall profitability targets for the portfolio in conjunction with bank/group profitability targets.
  • Cross-markets all CoBank products and services to meet new business goals for assigned portfolio. Develops and implements plans to capitalize on marketing opportunities.
  • Participates in planning activities for the group. Contributes expertise to the process on areas of responsibility.
  • Proactively monitors their respective loan portfolio and recommends actions to protect CoBank interests and minimize potential loan losses.
  • Maintains expertise in the Corporate and Financial Sponsors market/industry segments and keeps abreast of industry trends, technology, regulatory requirements and the competitive environment. Studies industrial, commercial, and financial situations relating to new or existing businesses as requested. Makes recommendations on financial and organization structure, locations, and other business-related issues. Provides additional guidance or advice to customers as appropriate.
  • Attends industry focused conferences throughout the year to meet with clients and prospects, network with other lenders and stays current on market and industry trends.
  • Acts as leader and team player who helps mentor junior members of the Digital Infrastructure team.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Master's Degree or MBA preferred

Work Experience

  • 10 years of relevant experience, including pitching, structuring and negotiating complex / leveraged direct and syndicated transactions. Strong relationship management skills with a deep understanding of credit and the overall capital markets required.
  • Prior Experience with an institution of comparable or greater scale and complexity. Deep understanding of the Digital Infrastructure industry with meaningful existing relationships. A history of acting as a leader and critical thinker required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, build and maintain effective relationships with key executives, internal team members, and external stakeholders, partners and customers.
  • Knowledge of applicable Digital Infrastructure industry segments served by this team and the regulatory environment including government (national and state) programs supporting the rural broadband industry.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit structuring, loan syndications, and general corporate finance skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to help lead and develop a skilled team of banking professionals focused on customer service, credit delivery, and achieving desired business results.

About CoBank

The typical base pay range for this role is between $192,000 - $236,160. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
