Job Description

Performs complex general accounting responsibilities, including accounts payable, applying knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and concepts, and provides leadership to other accountants on the team. Administers and controls one or more automated accounting systems/modules, including the coordination of automated processes and procedural work flow. Performs complex accounting analyses, reconciliations and projects which support the requirements of the division. Researches accounting guidance as needed to ensure compliance with GAAP. Duties include preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations, as well as analysis of financial statement account balances and related variances/trends.

Essential Functions

  • Maintains the assigned accounting system(s) utilizing knowledge of GAAP accounting concepts. Analyzes system reports to assure integrity of system data and performs related accounting reconciliations. Generates standard reports or creates ad-hoc reports, as requested. Conducts system issue troubleshooting, as well as system enhancement testing and implementations.
  • Prepares assigned account reconciliations in accordance with established internal control policies and deadlines. Identifies and documents all outstanding transactions, and coordinates with appropriate staff to ensure timely clearing. Audits account activity for appropriateness of transaction flows and accounting compliance.
  • Responsibility over key activities and business processes within the Accounts Payable area, ensuring adherence to GAAP and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Reviews basic journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Provides accounting services related to assigned areas of responsibility. Calculates accounting transactions, records activity on the general ledger, resolves any related issues, creates and distributes documentation and reports and provides customer service to stakeholders.
  • Participates in monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, including preparation and review of journal entries and income statement variance analysis.
  • Independently performs complex accounting analyses, and completes special projects for management as assigned.
  • Provides back-up for functions performed by others in department.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline, required.  Accounting preferred

Work Experience

  •  Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting concepts required
  •  Understanding of general accounting, cash management and accounts payable functions required
  •  Experience administering automated accounting systems with conversion or upgrade experience preferred 

Physical Exertion Details

Occasional Travel occurs infrequently (typically, once a month or less).

The typical base pay range for this role is between $85,900 - $98,240. Compensation may vary based on individual job-related knowledge, skills, expertise, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
